By now you have probably at least been made aware of the buzzwords CBD oil, Cannabidiol or Hemp. CBD oil/Hemp is getting a lot of attention due to its amazing properties that are treating many illnesses and ailments. People are hearing about it, trying it out with amazing results and some are still confused to what it really is. Science has discovered a new innate system in our bodies called the endocannabinoid system and what we are learning about this new system is truly amazing. That particular system is responsible for over seeing specific areas of the body such as hunger, pain, stress and pleasure. On a molecular level, the receptors respond to hemp oil on a very positive note. I hope to clarify much of this in my article and maybe you will be inclined to give it a try for healing or preventative.
The Cannabis plant produces both marijuana and hemp separately. Some Cannabis is grown for the THC(tetrahydrocannabinol), the part of the Cannabis plant that contains psychoactive properties,( the part that can get you high) The other part of the plant is grown and bred for the Hemp. The industrial uses for hemp range from oils, fiber for clothing, paper, topical ointments and much more. Hemp has less than 0.3 percent THC and currently it is legal to buy, sell and ship in all fifty states. With such a tiny amount of THC, there is no psychoactive effect in hemp oil, but the benefits of improving ones health are there. Hemp is also cultivated differently than the marijuana plant as well as the chemical structures are different. The part of the plant that is used for oil are the stalks and seeds. A extraction process is used to obtain the savored oils. It is important to find out how the brand of the oil you are thinking to purchase does their extraction process. You want to make sure the company is using a safe and nontoxic extraction so the end result of the oil too is safe and healthy to consume. The CO2 extraction is a safe extraction method. The CO2 method uses carbon dioxide under high pressure and very low temperatures to isolate, maintain the purity of the medicinal oil and preservation. When this is achieved properly, the end product, the hemp oil is safe, potent and free of chlorophyll. Some companies will use chemical solvents like hexane and butane, These are harsh chemicals that are neurotoxic and work on destroying your immune system. So if you don't find out how your product is processed, you could purchase a product that can end up doing more damage then good. Check your sources peeps.
Now that we know hemp is very low in THC and will not effect your mental processes, mood or cognition, it safe and legal for all ages and in all 50 states! I also asked my functional medicine doctor if a person would test positive for marijuana and she told me absolutely not. So those few people that you know that told you they were fired from their jobs for testing positivity for marijuana but were only taking hemp oil were probably telling a lie. So why would we want to add hemp oil into our supplement regimen and what is the best method to get it into our bodies. The delivery method of hemp can vary from each product form. Examples of different forms are oral sprays, tinctures, balms, salves, capsules and gel caps. If you are looking to boost the absorption of hemp oil, the liposomal form is the way to go just like vitamin C. Through liposomal, the cannabinoids in the hemp are more bioavailable to the body. If you do not go liposomal, you may require a much higher dose to experience the same benefits. Liposomal allows your body to access the potent cannabinoids and deliver them into the cells for stellar results. It may be a little more costly but in the long run , you will need less liposomal and enjoy far better results.
People with Chronic illnesses should be happy to know that many studies are reporting that hemp is providing health benefits to people who suffer from chronic disease. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. Perhaps a desire for a more natural approach to pain would work better for most than taking the prescription medications that are causing so many side affects, not too mention the addiction. It was also noted in these studies that a tolerance was not built up like in prescription drugs requiring higher and higher dosages. Hemp is also known to reduce anxiety. It did not matter if the anxiety was occasional, or the person had been diagnosed with anxiety disorder or suffers from seasonal affective disorder, full spectrum hemp oil has demonstrated the ability to mitigate this condition according to 2015 research. The hemp oil interacts with receptors in the brain that trigger anxiety and feelings of fear. The hemp oil manages to lower the anxiety levels and feelings of fear with oral dosages of 300-600mg according to research. It has also been noted that hemp oil may be used as neuroprotection. Neuroprotection would be a substance that protects the nerve cells, degeneration and dysfunction. Neurotoxicity symptoms include brain fog, depression, autoimmune conditions, deregulation of hormones, insomnia, seizure's and more. A preliminary study done on Alzheimer's disease showed hemp oil was able to reverse cognitive deficits and present neuroprotective and anti inflammatory properties in the brain. It also combats oxidative stress. Science has also discovered that hemp oil has had great results with people who have childhood onset of epilepsy. The FDA is actually working on approving a certain grade of hemp oil to treat certain types of epilepsy. I love that a natural plant is actually being approved by the federal drug and administration for these uses. We are making some progress in this area here in the USA!
Seems like hemp oil is pretty amazing to me even for just anti inflammatory. I think it is important when choosing a CBD oil that you be sure and do your research. As mentioned above, you want to make sure you purchase a hemp oil that is extracted in a clean fashion like the CO2 method mentioned above. Do your homework and understand the potency, cost and dosages. You also want to consider a liposomal delivery method to insure the best absorbency. You want to always consult with your doctor before adding supplements into your diet especially if you are taking medications. I think one has to experiment and find our what dosages work for them and also taking the time to take it and stay with it long enough to make a decision as to whether it is working for you or not.
I hope to break out another new recipe next week, but no promises as we will be in the mist of moving to hills of Tennessee from California. Have a beautiful weekend.
Love and Peace,
